Layla Mohanna '25 Recruiting Profile

I am a 4’11” 105-pound coxswain with Long Beach Junior Crew under Coach Tom Graves. I started rowing in August 2022, and I have fallen in love with all aspects of this sport and am now looking forward to the opportunity to row in college. I love coxswaining for both men and women and constantly work on improving my versatility and ability to motivate all types of rowers. I strive to change one thing every day to increase my contribution to the boat. My coach has communicated to me on several occasions that he has never seen anyone pick up coxing this quickly with such dedication and determination.

I’m in my junior year at Los Alamitos High School in Orange County, CA with a 3.7 GPA.  I’m currently taking two AP courses and continue my dedication to academics.  I am a very diligent person who will work hard and never stop until I achieve the goal I set out to accomplish whether it is academic or athletic.

I bring many important qualities to a team including a strong work ethic and positive attitude. I want to be a part of a college rowing program that fosters an environment of teamwork where I can enhance my voice in and out of the boat. There is a special relationship between rowers and coxswains, and I want to create a positive impact on all who I row with.
