My name is Heidi Duran and I am a sophmore at Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women. I have rowed for almost two years with Mercy's competitive team. I am a team player, a natural leader, and a hard worker. I constantly strive to do my personal best on and off the water as I am very strong both athletically and academically. I have raced in fours and eights and am becoming more proficient in sculling.
I believe that what differs me from other recruits is my work ethic. I have an intrinsic ability to want to work hard, succeeding academically and athletically. I am coachable and keep a positive attitude in all that I do. As a student-athlete, I do not let my athletic training get in the way of excelling in the classroom, as well. During workouts, I do not stop until my erg screen reaches zero meters, consistently putting in 110% effort for every stroke. Academically, I do not quit until I am satisfied with my work, always producing high-quality products that reflect my mature and responsible self. I believe that these qualities would make me a phenomenal candidate for your team and would open up many doors for success at the collegiate level.
