Personal Statement
I have played soccer for 12 years now and I can't imagine not playing at the collegiate level. I played for Davis Senior High School JV (Division I) as a freshman and a sophomore. During freshman year I scored 1 goal and had 4 assists while playing as an outside midfielder. My sophomore year I scored 9 goals and had 6 assists while playing as an outside forward. At the end of sophomore year I earned an Athletic Award for Most Improved Player because of the hard work I put in on my own and with my club team, Davis Legacy 98. I currently play on the Varsity team and so far this season I have scored 4 goals with 4 assists. I am an athlete that doesn't focus on working to be better than others; I focus on working to better myself. Some of the things I do on my own include playing pick-up soccer with college students, attending ID camps, running stadiums, sprints and drills with the ball. I also enjoy playing other sports recreationally such as volleyball, tennis, golf, wrestling and track and field. I believe that playing these other sports can really improve my lateral speed, reaction time, balance and my fitness level thus improving soccer. In my opinion there are many qualities to being an athlete and many of those qualities can't be achieved in the gym. I babysit a four year old girl that has special needs and I believe that working with her has really helped me become a better person. I have learned to be reliable, positive, persistent, respectful, inspirational and a good leader. All these qualities are key qualities of a student-athlete. My goal for my junior and senior year is to be a better student and increase my GPA by putting in the same focus and work ethic that I have for soccer.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope this helps you to get to know me better
