Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Lyric Gomez-Muniz and it has been my mission to play soccer for an excellent collegiate program that will challenge me both athletically and academically. I am from San Jose, CA where I graduated from Abraham Lincoln High Class of 2023. While at Lincoln, I helped lead the women's soccer team in winning the first CCS (Central Coast Championship) in the history of the women's program. Along with advancing to the finals and first round the 2 following years. While at Lincoln, I also learned the importance of hard work, grit, and consistency — all key ingredients to becoming a premier student-athlete. My commitment to developing my soccer skills recently led me to Spain where I was recruited to play competitive soccer for 10 months for the sports team FC Odisea Femenino. I will be returning to the USA in early 2024 to prepare myself for college. I plan on starting a four-year university in Fall of 2024.

Now a little about my soccer experience and what I feel I can bring to your team. I have been playing highly competitive soccer since I was four years old — I am a true lover of the sport. I’m a versatile player with most of my experience as an outside midfielder, attacking midfielder and forward. However, I can play just about anywhere my team needs me to play. As a winger and attacking midfielder, I have learned to anticipate where the ball is going. I can make great passes and crosses. I also have a good vision of the field. I am a passionate and determined player who is always finding ways to contribute, on and off the field. I always have a positive attitude and have previously taken on leadership roles with my teams. I believe in continuous growth improvement and am receptive to feedback.

Ultimately, my goal is to excel at both soccer and education at the collegiate level while I work towards my degrees in Sports Psychology. I want to do Sports Psychology because I want to help other athletes thrive on and off the field.

I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet with you and share more about what I can contribute to your team. Thank you for your consideration.
