Ashley May '26 Recruiting Profile

I've been fortunate to play for San Diego Surf (ECNL) a top club team in the nation the last 3-years.  My progression as a competitive soccer player has steadily increased from the age of four until now, most recently advancing to Richmond, VA for ECNL playoffs with my San Diego Surf (ECNL) teammates (2022/23 season).  The highlight of my soccer career so far was making it to the ECNL Semifinals, but unfortunately falling a bit short (2-1 L). I've had many challenges along the way and know that I'll have many more, but I'm excited for what opportunities are out there and what I can achieve!  I love the game so much, it's part of my identity. 

As an attacking midfielder (#10), I'm calm on the ball with a solid first touch, and glide-like movement on the field.  I pride myself on making my teammates around me better and being opportunistic with my scoring opportunities.  I'm balanced, capable of slotting a nice through ball, making central runs, take on opposing players 1 v 1, or shooting from distance from the top of the box.  I'm extremely athletic with a high level of stamina to handle what's required for the midfield position.  I'm a good teammate and have an easy-going personality.           

As much as I love soccer, however, academics come first for me.  My aspiration is to play collegiate soccer and continue to be part of that community, but within an academic setting that sets me up for future success.  I'm currently interested in Kinesiology & Sports Medicine as a potential career since I love athletics and especially helping others.      

In conclusion, I'm again playing both club and high school soccer getting the best qualities of both.   As a sophomore, I was a starter in the Varsity midfield for San Marcos High School and demonstrated myself as a strong contributor to the program.
