Personal Statement

I want to play soccer in college for it has always been a dream of mine to play at a professional level.  I have been playing soccer since I was four; I have also played basketball and volleyball, but soccer is what I do best, for I have competed against the best teams.  I have played all of the positions on defense, but I love to play the wings because I love making plays for my teammates. It doesn't matter who scores, for as a team, we lose or win together. I adapt to the game very quickly, and soon I have a good idea as to where the ball would be played before the ball gets to the other team.  I can also see what pass is better depending of how far, close, speed of play, and how fast we move depending on the game.

I am a good candidate for your team because I have the experience; soccer is in my DNA. I have power and strengths on my legs if needed, and my passing is very accurate. My dribbling skills and ball control gives me  much success and allows me to read the play and make the best play for my teammates. I take every opportunity very seriously, weather I am in training or in a game. I am truly passionate about the game and I love the camaraderie, the competition, and the opportunity to excel in the sport every day. I believe in playing as a team, that is why my adaptability and instinctive reaction during the game is part of my style of play. I follow specific directions from all coaches; I appreciate my teammates contributions to the share of the game and their suggestions for me; and, if I have to step it up to achieve a higher success. I believe in effective communication with both the players and the coaches, and we should all strive to work together to achieve a common goal. I am a good candidate to your team because I will bring a lot of experience, new ideas, passion, motivation, good sportsmanship, and I will help you win games.

What makes me different from other recruits is my experience and passion to the game.  I am a good communicator and appreciate everyone's contribution. I am not a one man army; I believe that as long as we play our best, the results should not matter, but of course, I do not like to lose. I am a great student; I am taking honor classes, and I am also good at playing other sports. I accept challenges as as opportunity to grow; that is why I have been successful in other sports. I believe that sports are necessary besides academia, and that is why school is my priority. I am willing to sacrifice; I am very studious, and disciplined. I enjoy learning new things and become a better person each day. Finally, I am both bilingual and bi-cultural, and have traveled to many places to learn about their culture; I have also traveled and played soccer in El Salvador. I have a sense of religion and respect for God.
