Personal Statement
Since I can reason, my life has revolved around two things that are most important to me; education and soccer. As a young person, I dream of all the opportunities life has to offer and how will I achieve them. I always knew that my dreams could become a reality and that soccer was going to be part of my success in life.
My education has been essential to me because I understand from early on that school is, and will be the path I’m walking in order to become a productive citizen in a much needed society. For that reason I strive to continue being an outstanding student and achieve academic excellence.
Equally important to me is soccer, the most amazing and beautiful sport that ever exists. It is what defines me perfectly, what identifies me as a person and is what makes sense in my life. I am grateful for all the things I’ve learned through my sport. Soccer makes me feel realized as a person because it continually teaches me discipline, dedication and perseverance; qualities I can use inside and outside the soccer field. With these qualities, good education and morals learned from my parents, I can say I’m shaped as a good person and a fierce athlete, motivated to exceed my previous achievements.
I am proud to say that I play soccer since I was 6 years old, and with 9 years of experience not only I’ve had setbacks, but many achievements and joyful moments that had brought tears and laughter, all filled with humbling experiences that I treasure in my heart. Every accomplishment like championships, won games, international games, are very important to me as a soccer player, but there is no other more important, significant and that can make me more proud than to have the privilege to wear the shirt of my beloved country. There are no words that can make me describe the happiness and pride I feel for been part of the National Team. It is a dream come true and my greatest accomplishment of all.
I consider myself a humble girl, kindhearted, who likes to help others in need or when going thru tough times. These characteristics have helped me as a player, because I’ve been able to assist my teammates when they have problems inside or outside the field. I have also become a leader within the team for that same reason. It has also helped me as a person because these experiences helping others made me realize what I want to devote myself in the future. Thanks to soccer I discovered my interest in Sports Psychology; a career in which I get to combine two very important things: my passion for helping others succeed, and my passion for sports, especially for soccer.
There are many more reasons I can explain why soccer is so important for me, but I think you got the idea. Can you now understand that soccer is my whole life?
