Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. My name is Kayla Young and when I heard this statement when I was younger it had an impact on me. I knew if there was one thing I could control it was my work ethic. I am fortunate to be naturally athletic, but soccer was the one sport that didn’t come nearly as easy as volleyball, swimming, track, or tennis. I think that’s part of what made me fall in love with it when I was younger. Now I love everything about the sport. I am passionate about soccer and feel at home on the pitch.
I am a starting Defender for Atlanta Fire United U16 ECNL. I currently play Right Back, Left Back, or Center Back. While I may have a lot to learn about college, I know how to make an impact on the soccer field with my speed, strength, balls skills, field vision and team-first attitude. I also work hard in the classroom to maintain my current 3.82 GPA at Northview High School; the #2 ranked academic public school in Georgia. I look forward to playing varsity soccer this year and continuing to pursue my dream of playing soccer in college.
