Hello, my name is Danielle Morgan. I am a Junior at Alan C. Pope High School in Marietta, Georgia.
I began playing soccer at the early age of 3 years old where I immediately feel in love with the sport and have been playing ever since. I started playing competitive soccer at 8 years old on a travel EDP team in New Jersey and was named Captain my last two years on the team. I also earned a starting position as a 6th, 7th and 8th grader on my middle school soccer team and was named Captain in 8th grade. In addition to playing soccer, I also played volleyball and lacrosse in my off season. I relocated to Georgia in 8th grade and joined Concorde Fire. I am currently playing for the Concorde Fire 06 ECNL RL Platinum team as an outside back and center back. I am also double rostered on the Concorde Fire 05 ECNL RL Platinum team as a wing and attacking midfielder.
I am a very strong and aggressive holding midfielder and outside back who is very versatile in playing other positions, such as center midfield, attacking midfield, wing and striker. I enjoy playing at a competitive high level and I'm constantly working to improve my skills. I currently train with a private coach 1 time a week to improve my touches, passes and shots on goal. I also make an effort to attend training camps and ID camps to expose myself to new coaching strategies and techniques, which has made me a very coachable athlete.
Fun fact about myself: I was diagnosed with a form of Dyslexia when I was 8 years old and was assigned an IEP in school. I didn't let my learning setbacks hold me back or interfere with being successful academically. Instead, I began my journey to strengthen my reading and writing by attending early morning resource classes and special sessions during study hall in school. At the end of each school year, my IEP Specialist was amazed on my progress and as a result some of my IEP services were removed each year because they were no longer necessary. In the past year, my IEP specialist recommended me for several Honors level courses to enhance my academics. I have consistently worked hard on and off the field to get where I am today. I am very proud of my efforts and motivation to never give up no matter what gets thrown at me. I have always been great at balancing my academics, athletics and extracurricular activities while consistently maintaining all As and some Bs each semester.
I envision myself working in the area of Business or Sports Medicine/Management and would love the opportunity to bring my strong work ethic and love of soccer into my college career. I am looking for a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically.
