Personal Statement

Hello - my name is Paityn McCandless and I'm from Rexburg, Idaho. I am currently a Junior at Madison Senior High School and plan to graduate in 2023. I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember - it's definitely my passion and a great source of joy in my life.

I'm most confident at center mid, but find I'm asked to play in different positions during different team needs. I'm told I'm versatile but I always feel most productive at center mid. I work hard to play all year, even in Idaho which means indoor and outdoor teams and all sorts of weather conditions and temperatures. I play for my high school team during the fall. My freshman season was cut short due to an Achilles Tendon Injury but started on the JV team my sophomore year. I was "pulled up" to play during multiple Varsity games including districts which at that young age was awesome for me, especially in our program.

During my junior season, I was occasionally slowed by a quad strain at the beginning of the season but played regularly and then later played full time / non-stop the rest of the season. That year (Junior season) we extended our season into districts which is always a blast and a great experience. During all my Varsity games I always increased in playing time even as I recovered or nursed cautiously any injury.

I started my spring club season practice in November of 21' and started play in February 22'.  I've been playing on the IFFC select team in a much larger city (Idaho Falls, Idaho) about 30 miles away. We practiced indoors multiple times a week and as spring starts to show it's face - we do get outside now for both practice and games. This is my first season playing with this team, I transferred or was recruited by this team due to the low number of players on my old club team. It's been a great experience meeting new team members, getting new coaching, and contributing to a very competitive club...I'm grateful for the opportunity.

This IFFC team will be playing in these tournaments this year:

April 1-3 in the Boise Rush, in Boise, Idaho.

May 5-8 in the PVSC Classic, in Pocatello, Idaho.

May 12-14 in the I.F Shootout, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. This tournament is hosted by my club.

June 9-11 in the Yellowstone cup, in Rexburg, Idaho.

And June 22-25 in the Ogden Peaks, in Ogden, Utah.

As these dates get closer it would be a pleasure for me to send anyone more information on where and when I will be playing.

I'll also be signing up to several ID camps this summer and will be reaching out to those teams as those camps get confirmed.

Thank you,

Paityn McCandess '23 Center Mid. Rexburg, Idaho
