Personal Statement
For as long as I can recall, I have always loved to play soccer. There was never really a point in my life where I just suddenly became more interested in soccer because when playing soccer whether it be AYSO, club, or school soccer, the love of the game has always been there. Soccer is a huge part of my life and I cannot imagine not taking the opportunity to play in college.Through playing soccer and volleyball I have learned so many lessons that I use in everyday life. Most importantly, I have learned to work through my problems. When I am faced with a difficult situation, I know that I have to work hard to come out with a win. Even if it seems like a bad outcome, I can always learn and take something positive from the experience. Then, I use that knowledge in the future. Even if the outcome is simply a good experience or a great day of soccer, I am better for it.
Soccer and the other sports I play are a huge part of my life, but I know that academics is also extremely important. In school, I focus on success just as I do on the on the athletic field. I work toward and have achieved honor roll each year. Without getting good grades I would limit my options in life, so I keep mine high. When it comes to academics, playing soccer helps me with time management. If I’m not playing a sport I find that I’m less efficient, but when I’m playing soccer I know that I need to focus on schoolwork because of practices and games.
It has been hard to come up with descriptions of myself, so I asked my friends and family the first thing that came to mind when they thought of me. My closest friends said that I was really funny and really passionate about everything I do. One of my friends said fabletic which she later explained was a combination of fabulous, athletic, and funny. My mom said I was joyful ,and my dad said I was dependable. I’d say, they’re right.
Soccer is a part of who I am. It has helped make me a stronger person, a better friend, and a better sister. I want to continue to grow and I cannot imagine that growth without what soccer brings to my life. I see playing soccer in college as a part of that next big step.
