Personal Statement
I started playing soccer at the age of 4. My mom was my older brother's soccer coach so she would take me to all their practices and games. I wasn't allowed to play on his team because of my age, but my mom would let me practice with his team. I always had a ball at my feet, whether I was watching T.V. or playing. The thing that stood out to everyone when I was younger was that I could compete with boys, I was fast and very competitive. I was always scoring goals or creating scoring opportunities. I also played basketball. I was one of the taller girls on the team, but I played a guard position. I was one the leading scorers. I remember in soccer and in basketball I loved when I scored the winning goal or the winning basket. Since then, I have the drive to win in every game.
I realized I wanted to play soccer at the most competitive level in college, so I put all my time into training for soccer. I played on soccer travel teams until my high school year and started club soccer at the age of 5. Since my freshman year in High School, we have won our section 3 times, runner up for WPIAL championship 2 times and went to States twice. I started all 3 years and was the leading scorer my freshman and junior year. I have 63 goals and 35 assists. I was named all section freshman year, all WPIAL sophomore year and all WPIAL and All state junior year.
Currently I play club soccer for Pittsburgh Hotspurs 05 blue. We play in the national PRO league. We won eastern regional's and state cup in 2021. I was the leading goal scorer with 23 goals and 6 assists in the spring 2021 season. My goal this season is to win the PRO league championship game.
I want to play soccer at the highest level while attending a great academic program. I'm an honor roll student and maintain a 3.6 gpa. I want to graduate from college and work as a physical therapist. I already have great study habits because I study hard for my grades. I also put in extra time to become a faster and stronger player. Whether that's at the gym or doing extra skill trainings.
I have been playing with most of my club teammates for a decade. You don't see this very often. However, we have been able to do it because we all respect one another, we want each other to succeed, and we all work hard. This is something I want at the collegiate level and is important to me.
