Personal Statement
My name is Kaitlin Hossley, ever since I was four years old, soccer has been part of my life. Playing at the collegiate level is my dream. I am hopeful that my work ethic, determination and commitment to succeeding will help me attain my dream.
In early 2016, I began playing for two club teams - FC Dallas Elite East Texas ('00/'01) and FC Dallas ETx ('01). These two teams are coached by Corey Rose, the Head Women’s Soccer Coach of Tyler Junior College, and Jeremy Bernard with FC Dallas. On both of these teams, my coaches play me in all positions (forward, midfield and defender), although I am passionate about and enjoy playing center midfield.
In the summer of 2016, I tried out for the FC Dallas Elite '00 Team, which is comprised of older high school girls from all over East Texas. I was the youngest player to make the team and become a starter. I started at either midfield or forward, but I found myself playing all around.
As of December 2016, I began playing for All Saints Episcopal School's Varsity Team in Tyler, Texas. As a freshman, I won the starting center midfield position and became the leader of the team. At the end of my season, I was the only Freshman in our conference to be awarded 1st Team All District. In 2017, I moved schools to Whitehouse High School. In my first season with Whitehouse as a sophomore, I was awarded 1st Team All District, led my team with assists as a midfielder and was second in total number of goals scored.
Throughout the spring and summer season of 2017, I continued training and playing for FC Dallas Elite East Texas ('00) with Corey Rose. Coach Rose has been instrumental in developing me into the player I am today. In the fall of 2017, I was asked to join FC Dallas ('01) Premier team under Coach Matt Veasey, FC Dallas' ENCL coordinator. Even though I live Tyler, Texas which is over 2 hours to the FC Dallas training facility in Frisco, Texas, I split time training in Tyler with Coach Rose and in Frisco/Dallas, Texas with Coach Veasey.
My favorite position is center midfield, but I enjoy play forward and having more opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net. According to my coaches, my strengths include my grit and determination for the ball, ability to see and spread the field with the ball, my speed to the ball, ability to place the ball in passing with precision and free kicks.
Along with soccer, I also have strong work ethic in school. In order to challenge and prepare me for college, I am enrolled in honors courses, Pre AP, and AP courses. Not only do I play soccer, but I also run cross country. In my first season as a cross country runner, I became one of the top female runners in East Texas. Over the next couple of years, I plan to continuing running track and cross country to help further develop my speed and stamina.
