Hello, my name is Natalie Wenke. I just finished my sophomore year at Cody High School, where I was a starter on varsity for two years. During my high school soccer career, I have helped lead the team to two undefeated seasons(34-0) and two state championship titles.
This year did not end up as planned when a couple of games before state, I had a collision with a goalie causing me to end up with a tibial plateau fracture. Through this injury, I learned how much soccer meant to me. Even though it was heartbreaking to show up to practices and games knowing that I could not play, I continued to show up. I felt a stronger sense of commitment and support for my team because of this injury. Because of this, I realized that soccer is a deep part of my identity.
In the off-season, I usually stay active by doing other activities like mountain biking, hiking, running, and working out. But with my injury, my plans have temporarily changed. When I can go back to working out, I plan on strength training, speed training, and footwork. I want to work on footwork so that it is natural during a game. I also want to work on positioning.
My ability to read and understand the game allows me to make the right positioning decisions as a forward, and I believe this is my greatest asset as a player. I would be thrilled to continue my soccer journey in college. School is also very important to me. This year I maintained a 3.63 GPA, while being active in a sport throughout the school-year. My goal, is to find a college that fits first on an acedemic level followed by atheltic. I value integrity, humility, and gratitude and I know there is always room to improve, so I continuously strive to develop my soccer abilities, acedemics, and character.
