Personal Statement
I have been swimming since I was six years old. Although it began as a way to keep me and my siblings safe at our cabin on the Kenai Peninsula, I fell in love with swimming and competing. My teammates and coaches on both the Aurora Swim Team and the Dimond High School Swim Team have helped me become a better swimmer and a better person. Everyday, I look forward to going to the pool and challenging myself to do better.
I have developed discipline through swimming that I have applied to my school work. I have always held myself to a high academic standard, by taking honors and AP classes since my freshman year. Currently my weighted GPA is a 3.92, and I am taking AP Language and Composition, AP Chemistry, and AP Calculus AB. Because of my aptitude for math and science, I enrolled myself in the PLTW engineering program my freshman year, and plan to finish the engineering program my senior year.
I hope that I can find a collegiate swim program and a university that matches my goal of studying electrical engineering and continuing to compete in swimming.
