Personal Statement

I finished my Junior at JSerra High School, I have done well academically possessing a 4.43 GPA. My courses have included the Law Magnate as well as numerous honor classes. I have Advanced Placement Classes as well. I made Academic All American in 2015,2016. At JSerra, I achieved 9 Automatic All American times in my first three years. Our high school team won the inaugural California State Championship in 2015. We finished 2cd in California in both the 200 medley and 400 free relays at the State Championship. Our medley relay set the Southern California Division I CIF record in the 2015 CIF finals.  Previously, I have participated in Zone Select Camp and been selected on numerous Southern California All Star teams including Southern California Festivals, North American Challenge Cup, Pacific Coast All Star Meets in US and Canada.  I have participated in Junior Nationals since age 13.  I competed in the US National Championship as a 15 year old this past summer. In December 2015, I competed in the US Winter National Championships. I made the "C" finals in the 400 IM finishing 22cd. Many additional countries were represented as they were preparing for the Olympics.  In the 2014 Winter Junior Nationals, our club team 800 freestyle relay finished 4th. My split was 1:49:83. In the same meet, I finished 18th in the 400 IM and swam my first Olympic trials time in the 200 backstroke.  July 2015, I competed in the Los Angeles Invitational at USC finishing 5th in the "A" final for the 400IM behind US National team members some of which were 8-9 years older. Additionally, I made the "A" final in the 200 backstroke. I competed recently in the American Short Course Championship at the University of Texas in Austin (March 3-6). I had 4 first place finishes, 2 seconds, 2 thirds, a fourth and a 6th in 10 events. In the long course portion of the meet, I swam 5 Olympic Trials times in 8 swims including preliminaries. In the 400 IM which I won, I swam a 4:49.18.  In the short course 400 IM, my 4:13.89 time placed first. Additionally, our 200 freestyle relay set a Southern California Age Group 15-16 y/o record. Several of my times in the short course would have qualified for NCAA "B" cuts.  I will be participating at the Omaha Olympic Trials in the 200 back, 200 IM and 400 IM.I have concluded my High School 2016 Season. I finished 2cd in Division 1 Southern California in the 500 free which I swim infrequently 4:48.30 making both a Junior National time and US Open Bonus time. I finished 4th in Southern Section division 1 in the 200 IM at 2:00.93. Both times were Automatic All American times.I made the State Championship HS qualifications in both events, but will be concentrating on Olympic trial preparation. I was honored by Southern California Swimming for top 10 National times at the annual banquet in May 2016. I have been honored every year for such since 2010.I was named "Lion" of the Month at JSerra HS this past semester and Athlete of the Semester.
