My goal is to create a bond with the rest of the team and be there on the side or end of the pool to cheer them on to accomplish their goals as well. I am a captain currently for my high school team, and when at the Ymca, my fellow team mates consider me a wonderful leader and example of hard work. At the end of every Highschool season, the team gets together for a banquet and people receive awards for throughout the year accomplishments, I earned "The Rock" award as a sophomore. The Rock Award is received by someone who shows true self-discipline towards swimming and shows they are there to compete and leave it all in the pool. As a junior I received the "US" Award which is given to the teammate who shows all the key characteristics of the team, which are Hard work, Honesty, Integrity, and Sportsmanship. I have grown a great love for swimming since I was 8 years old, when joining the Ottumwa Hurricanes with the coaching of Heather Simplot, she pushed me to become a wonderful swimmer and leader for high school swim. Cherie Langland who is my present Highschool swim coach, has taught me to understand all of the importances of swimming and being a great captain for my team, as well as someone that will be there for a swimmer when they need their confidence boosted right before a race. I would like to work myself even harder next year to get faster than people already say I am, so I can lead my team into victory and show them that in the end of all the hard work and pushing yourself, great things come out of it. Although swimming has been an important factor in my life, I believe my academic development has been just as important to me. I keep my swimming schedule based around my school schedule , and work to keep my GPA at an adequate level. For quite some time have aspired to become a veterinarian technologist. My love for animals and helping others have lead me to believe this is an important career for my future.
