Hi, my name is Ella, and I'm a swimmer from Louisiana! I've been swimming competitively since around age 4 or 5 I think. The first time I made a state cut was when I was age 6 for the 8-10 age group, and I thought I was something else. Ha ha! Since then, I have bigger goals. This year (2022), I made a YMCA SC Nationals cut in the 100 back and was able to attend that meet in North Carolina. It was a much bigger experience than state, and I started realizing my potential more and more. While there, I also qualified in the 200 back and was very close in the 50 free. I didn't really think about swimming in college until this year, my freshman year. I want to be a doctor some day (a brain surgeon to be exact) and thought I wouldn't have time for swimming. However, I work pretty hard in school now and still make time to swim every day and workout each morning in addition to regular practice time. I would love to swim for my college in the future, hopefully on scholarship, because I know medical school will be a big expense and could use the help in my undergraduate studies. Plus just being on a college team with other athletes similar to me could make my college experience even greater. I hope to bring the team points from my swims, teamwork, support, and dedication while also working hard in my studies.
