Swimming is my passion; I've been continuously involved with swimming since the age of five and started swimming competitively at nine and I hope to continue swimming at the collegiate level. I enjoy being on a team and constantly challenging myself to improve my skills. I am a person who set goals for myself and perseveres. Swimming during Covid showed me that I could persevere even through the most challenging situations, like when my high school team had to swim outside during the winter. There was snow on the ground and some days the temperatures were below freezing. It showed me how much I took for granted when swimming indoors!
This year, I will be going into my third year on varsity swim at Maryvale Preparatory School. I am also on a club team - GBSA (Greater Baltimore Swim Academy). And I swim during the summer for Rollingwood Swim team. All of these teams despite being at different levels have allowed me to see my love for swimming and competing. I've always loved swimming breaststroke and butterfly, and I've come to enjoy swimming IMs as well. Although Sometimes I have to step out of my comfort zone, like the time I swam a 500-meter free in my first meet of the varsity season.
Besides being an athlete, I am also a strong student academically, and have managed to keep a 3.77 GPA. In terms of future careers, I see myself potentially pursuing something related to math/science/engineering, journalism, or law. Over time, I have found a way to balance both sports and school by being well organized and practicing good time management skills. I feel that these qualities make me a good candidate for a college team, and I look forward to having the opportunity to swim beyond high school.
