Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Alexa Kutch and I have been swimming for about 8 years. During that time, I have swum with a summer league, my high school, and USA swim clubs. Although these have all offered me different experiences, my coaches consistently pointed out things that I soon too noticed about myself both during practices and competitions. First I learned very early how to cope with a bad time/swim/DQ. From those tough experiences, I taught myself to shake it off and to not let it get the best of me because at the end of the day it was only one race and that wasn't going to stop me from swimming my other events the best I could. I chose to save the tears for the pillows and not the pool. Secondly, I am very involved with my team and helping to motivate and encourage others who may have had a bad time/swim/DQ. I look at myself as a team player and I think I get along with everyone on my team because I try to treat them with the utmost respect.
In my college swimming career, I aim to be challenged by my teammates and opponents in order to get the best experience possible. I do not want to be pushed aside or be the highlight but instead right in the middle. As for my goals in the practice pool, I will create mini goals for each set that is given to me and I know I have to give 100% during every single practice whether in the pool or the weight room in order to stay competitive. As for the competition pool, my goals are to drop my times as with any other swimmer but to also improve my technique i.e fast arm speed, solid kick, good starts and turns.
I would have to say what makes me stand out from other recruits is I am passionate about who I am as a person, who I am in the water, and who I am as a student. I am a committed individual who will stop at nothing to reach my goals and help others with their goals.
