Personal Statement

My name is Victoria I. Chandler born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. My Mother Iris E Chandler is Mexican and my Father Kenneth J Chandler is from United States of America. I currently live in Fort Worth, Texas. I am a fun and driven 16-year-old 10th grader who is an active student-athlete attending Paschal High School. My main objective and preparation are to be able to participate and excel as an active student-athlete in high School in an effort to swim competitively at the collegiate level.  I believe my sense of competitiveness, hard work and drive comes from my Dad who introduced me to swimming and general sports at an early age. My sense of fair play and compassion definitely comes from my Mom. I am lucky to have a strong support group surrounding me and wishing me the best on everything I set out to do. I understand I must work hard and focus to be an outstanding student academically and elite athlete. I am a A-B academic student Honor Roll in High School and active athlete as I competed in Cross Country and Swimming varsity teams. I am a year-round swimmer with the Sigma Metro Swimming Club in Fort Worth TX.  My true passion is definitely swimming but I do love the competitivity in sports in -- general. In swimming, I consider myself a sprinter as I enjoy the 50Y (PB - 25.11), 100Y (PB - 55.82) and 200Y (PB 2:07.36) Freestyle events but frequently ask by the Coach to swim other events like the 100 Fly and 200IM for various meets to help the team standings. My Freshman and Sophomore Year I ran for PHS X-Country JV team (Coach Daus) which made 3rd place at District 3-6A and obtain PB - 21:36.58 time. I have participated in Swimming team during my freshman & Sophomore year at PHS and qualify for the varsity teams. My PHS athletics objective is to work hard to eventually be selected by my peers and the Coach as Team Captain of the Swim Team in my Junior & Senior year in HS. I do swim year around with Sigma Metro Swimming Team and Elite group with Head Coach Wendy Gettings. I plan to work hard to get and maintain above a 3.50 GPA and expect to obtain honor roll throughout my years in high school. I am attempting to maintain a high academic standard by managing the Honor Roll and Texas Scholar while taking AP & Honor classes in High School. My freshman year I was able to make 1st team all-District & PHS 1st Place District Champions. Also, made 1st team all Regional 1-6A in both the 50Y & 100Y free events. My overall objective is to qualify for Texas State Championship. I will join and participated in extra-curriculum school activities while in high school; like Debate, talent shows and outside of school community services.

I have focus and dedicated time to be an active and exemplary student-athlete in high school with a high GPA while taking AP/Honor classes. I will be joining both the high school swim team and club swimming to work hard in my swimming disciplines while competing in both HS meets and regional US swimming competitions. My goal is to drop swimming times and at least obtain AAAA times in the 50, 100, and 200 free events. I am willing to work hard in both the classroom and the pool to obtain these goals for my HS school year. I am looking for a college environment in which I can be groomed and developed to succeed both academically and athletically and possibly make the USA Olympics Swim Trials. My objective is to find and get accepted into a strong college and athletic infrastructure that drives student-athlete like me to exceed expectations in the classroom and in the pool which I believe goes hand in hand.

I know, I must work harder in driving down my swim times over the next 4-year in order to fall within swimming competitive range and I am focusing on that as we speak. For the next year my focus will be to manage above a 3.5 GPA academically, continue to improve my SAT > 1200 and ACT > 24 versus my current scores and drive down swimming times below 24 sec in 50 SCY, < 54 sec in 100SCY, < 2:01 sec in 200SCY and < 5.50 sec in 500SCY freestyle events. I look forward in you all continuing to follow me as I progress in exceeding these goals.

I am leaning in studying and obtaining a degree in Business, Architecture or Kinesiology with a University with an outstanding academic reputation. Ideally, I would love to be in an athletic environment where I could contribute and understandably willing to put the time and effort to meet the challenges imposed by the academic and sports curriculum. My preference is to be recruited by a College with a high academic power ranking and one that offers my plan of study. I believe the career studies to pursue are: Business Management or Sports Management

My Profile: http://recruit-match.ncsasports.org/clientrms/athletes/?

I understand that there are many other Division schools out there who offer as good an academic and swim programs that I may not be aware of or heard off; so I plan to use the NCSA application and tools to help me expand my search in finding a college that will value me as I value education, sports, and tradition and is willing to take the time to teach me, guide me and show me new things that will make me a better student and athlete.

  • Camp/Event
  • Comprehensive Butterfly Racing Camp - with Olympic Swimmer & Fitter and Faster Swim Camp
  • 12/17/22 to 12/18/22
  • HIGH PERFORMANCE BUTTERFLY TECHNIQUE (DEC 17) Establish a rhythmic butterfly with various drills and skills that will enable the swimmer to have flowing hips and a long, more powerful butterfly stroke. 1-BODYLINE: proper bodyline, proper posture and engagement of their core to have a strong foundation for better technique - creating a full-body connection for more hydrodynamic and efficient butterfly strokes. 2 - KICK: kicks are properly timed and equally strong to improve efficiency and stroke timing to maximum speed. 3 - PULL: Long and smooth strokes for more efficient and fluid butterfly to keep swimmer accelerating forward. 4 - BREATH: timing of the breath in butterfly to have effective body position, pull, kick and on breathing with the chin low to the water and breathe in their stroke cycle so that they develop the most efficient stroke possible! BUTTERFLY RACING AND TRAINING SKILLS (DEC 18) Work on applying speed to their butterfly! Our objective is to get your swimmer to maintain their technique with distance per stroke, tempo, and flowing speed. 1 - LENGTH OF STROKE: Lengthening swimmer’s butterfly stroke will enable them to “catch” and hold onto more water to propel them as they swim and establish a “rhythmic flow”. 2 - TEMPO: maintain a rate at which a swimmer is moving their arms and hips to explore different tempos that are sustainable for any distance your swimmer is racing. 3 - POWERFUL UNDERWATER DOLPHIN KICKING: The common theme of these techniques is that the best swimmers kick up and down with equal power. Show swimmer the different techniques that elite swimmers use and teach them how to implement. 4 - SPEED SET: short and fast swim set to practice everything they have learned over the past two days.
  • Camp/Event
  • Elite Speed & Power Camp - with Clark Smith & Fitter and Faster Swim Camp
  • 10/22/22 to 10/23/22
  • ELITE SPEED & POWER CAMP - OCTOBER 22 & 23, 2022 Due to the advanced concepts covered in this camp, this camp is exclusively for swimmers ages 13 & older. Swimming fast requires good technique, efficiency, power, and a hard-working athlete. Elite swimmers are always working on this. At the Elite Speed and Power Camp, participants will advance their skills that apply to fast swimming in every stroke. This camp will be led by elite clinician and Olympic Gold Medalist: Clark Smith!
