Personal Statement
Hi!
Sports have always been my greatest passion and what I enjoy doing most. Luckily for me, I have always been naturally athletic, a fierce competitor, and an unstoppable go-getter. I would like to think that I embody Rafa's mentality when I play.
I first fell in love with tennis when I was five (though I’m willing to bet I spent more time trying to dump clay out of my shoes:) From that point on, I played at local clubs and on our neighborhoods’ USTA teams. Later, in the beginning of 2018, I knew that tennis was it for me and that college tennis was what I wanted as an ultimate goal. I have been the #1 singles player/MVP on my school's varsity teams (Atlanta International School/ Paideia) since freshman year. I have competed in every match to date, finishing sophomore year strongly with a 20-0 varsity record. I was also named best-female athlete, lettering in tennis, volleyball, and basketball freshman year. Beyond my accomplishments, I have been putting a greater focus on building my tennis IQ during matches. I am working to become better at analyzing different playing styles (including my own) so that I can improve my shot selection.
As for my academic and extracurricular life, I am involved in school-affiliated activism groups, student government, and do regular community service work. I have also taken steps towards immersing myself in the commercial real estate business, a job field I’m very interested in, by recently interning with Ackerman and Co.
I am excited to start thinking about college and know that I will be a great student/teammate.
