Personal Statement
I am known by my teammates for being honest, supportive, optimistic and fun. I frequently get compliments from teammates, coaches, opponents, and families on my positive and friendly attitude both on and off the court, winning or losing. One opponent, after a particularly competitive match, told me, "You're the nicest girl I've played all day." One of my greatest qualities as a player is my tenacity. I have had ups and downs in my tennis career but I never stopped challenging myself and never gave up. This has helped me grow into a stronger, more mature player. I am always willing to learn more. Playing at the #1 spot as a Sophomore, I handled the pressure of being the only year-round USTA tournament player on my team in a very competitive conference and lead us to a winning season while also making Honor Roll.
My love for tennis started at the age of 9 when I played on my first team. I enjoy playing both singles and doubles and have had success with both. I know that there is high-quality tennis to be played at every division, and no matter what or where I play, I look forward to competing at the college level and being part of a team that can work together to achieve their athletic and academic goals. I plan to study in the fields of biology and psychology but am not yet decided on a career path. I would like to play fairly close to home, as my family is very important to me and have always been my biggest supporters. Thank you for your consideration.
