Crossing the finish line with the accomplishment of first place for elementary school girls was my inspiration to keep running! Over the years, I have successfully competed in the Junior Varsity and Varsity 100m, 200m, 4x100 relay, 400m and Cross Country races representing The Sagemont School. I have been further encouraged by being named an "Athlete to Watch" by the Miami Herald in 2017. In addition, I have continuously qualified for District, Regional and State competitions.
I love athletics, so I commit myself to always prepare to do my best and run hard. My favorite motivational quote is by Dan Montano, "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or gazelle. When the sun comes up, you'd better be running." I truly believe this approach can be applied to athletics, as well as school work.
I am also very focused on excelling academically and pursuing a degree in Sports Medicine. I understand the importance of a good education. As a result, I have maintained outstanding grades while being a top track athlete. My love of sports, coupled with my interest in medical sciences have solidified by career choice to be a Sports Doctor. I am excited about my future and look forward to being a collegiate track athlete and pre-med student.
