Logan Akason 2017...Personal Statement
I have been running competitively since I was in middle school. I enjoy the competition and the teamwork. As I continued to take on new distances and relays and lower my PRs, I realized that running in college was within my reach. I know that participating in collegiate sports is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
I am a multi-sport athlete who competes at a very high level and a state champion in both track and softball. I have a strong competitive drive and train hard year-round. I am a team leader who is always positive and encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and one of the hardest working runners on the team. I think my work ethic sets me apart from the normal runner because multiple coaches have mentioned how hard I work.
In the classroom, I take challenging courses and maintain one of the highest GPAs in my large class. I am involved in choir and also mentor middle school show choirs and an 8U softball team while volunteering at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
I want to attend a college where I can get a degree that will benefit my future career while also pushing myself on the track. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible.
