As long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a college athlete. From the time I was little. I’m fortunate to have found a sport that I love and I am determined to be successful in. Track plays a huge role in my life. weather its success in meets or in practice; I love it all the same. I find little reminders everyday from a smell that reminds me of the track on a hot day, to a passing thought. It always seems to be on my mind. I’m happy when I do any of my events and I love the thrill of setting a new PR. I live with the repetition of the thud of steps between each hurdle or the hop, skip and jump on every triple jump. I love the challenge when the bar raises in high jump and the anticipation that runs through my body preparing it for what I will do. Similar to the visualization I can see in my head before I take off for long jump. I have set many records and plan to beat my school record for hurdles in which my sister currently holds. Two of my sisters also did my events; I am on the heel of my sister who holds the record now and before her was my other sister who broke the 1983 record. My family has a history of college athletics from my Mom being a college diver on scholarship to my sister becoming a college gymnast . I know that track takes a lot of effort and practice, thats why for me it’s a year long sport. In my off season I have a personal trainer in the faster program . I’ve been doing track for seven years and I know that with track and field also comes school. Since grade school I have been a student athlete from competing in gymnastics and to running track. Although I have never had a problem balancing the two. I have maintained a 4.0 Gpa throughout my high school career and plan to keep it that way.
