Personal Statement
I have been interested in college athletics for some time. Prior to my sophomore year I was a club level 8 gymnast. Choosing between two sports was difficult, but track and field was where my heart was. I began to run track competitively my freshman year of high school.
I have had good success my Freshman and Sophomore year. I was pleased to reach the finals in the 2013 USATF Junior Olympics in the 400 hurdles and have consistently placed in the top 4 at the State Level in both the 100 and 60 meter hurdles.
I tore my ACL mid indoor season in 2014 and had ACL Surgery on March 17th, 2014 which took me out of track my Junior year. Although this is a setback, I have been working very hard, before and after school everyday, to not only strengthen my leg, but to become a better hurdler. I began competition for the 2014-2015 Indoor season in December and have already set PR's for both the 60m Hurdles and 60m dash. I placed fourth in the Michigan Indoor State finals. My goal is to use the speed I have developed to make even greater strides in the 300m and 400m hurdles during my Senior year high school season and keep working at lowering my time and staying consistent, I want to be not only a good hurdler but a good racer.
