I have been participating in track and field since I was in 6th grade. My love for track first started when I was in 5th grade and we had a track and field day. Ever since then I have loved competing and each year my drive and dedication for this sport has increased. When I am around a track or a high jump pit my mood just brightens up no matter how bad my day was. Through this sport I have learned many skills that I can apply to my normal life. I have learned the quality of hard work and dedication and that is truly pays off. I have also learned how to be a good leader and set a good example for my teammates and anyone who I may encounter. The leadership skills I have learned throughout the years have also transferred to other aspects of my life including my other sports and place of work. I have worked very hard to get where I am academically and athletically. One thing that makes me different is that I do not have the biggest support system when it comes to really anything I do. However I believe the lack of support I receive has strengthened the amount of self drive and determination I put into anything I do. I do not just compete to have fun. I compete to prove the people who said I couldn't do it wrong. My goal in college is to keep doing well academically and to continue to work hard and improve in track and field. I would be a good candidate for your team because when I set a goal for myself I will chase it. I will not stop until I achieve that goal.
