I began running in 8th grade due to not fitting in with any other sport. I didn’t think I’d get very far with running a “pointless” circle, especially since I’d failed miserably at making the team for volleyball and basketball. More into the track season I started to enjoy running. Loving it. I felt I had finally found a thing that fully wanted me. All I needed was mental toughness and the will to keep pushing. The spikes that fit perfectly, the baton that went smoothly into my hand and that “pointless” circle, all means something.
GREAT athletes go above and beyond, put themselves out there and devote themselves to what they love doing the most, and for me that’s track. I want to set myself up for success. I am the oldest out of six younger siblings. My goal is to lay the foundation, and set the bar high so they can only go up. I want them to be in a position where they don’t have to worry about anything and they can focus on themselves for success.
Continuing in track and field has always been a goal for me since I knew I could do it after high school. Being able to have an opportunity this big, to compete in college and possibly go even farther is eye opening. I work very hard on and off the track. I’ve bettered myself to completing my assignments for school and I’m respectful and show integrity. Though I do make mistakes I do not allow them anymore to set me back but to only push me forward!
