My name is Adriana Ellsworth and I am currently going into my senior year of high school at Sweet Home in Amherst, NY. This will be my 6th year on varsity (despite some seasons taken away due to Covid). Going into sophomore year of high school my indoor season was taken away, but I was lucky enough to have an outdoor season, even though we only had a month. Going into that season I knew I wanted to try out the pentathlon. I ended up learning how to high jump, hurdle, and throw in just a month. I ended the season with placing 2nd at the state qualifier section 6 meet, with a decent score of 2312. It was my very first time competing in it so I was okay with that. This past junior indoor and outdoor has changed track and field for me. I went into the indoor season (2nd season high jumping) with only a PR on 4'11 3/4, and ended off the season at a PR of 5'3 1/2. Hurdles improved tremendously as well, also it being only my second season training with them, and I ended my indoor with a PR of 9.13 in the 55mh and patched 3rd at the state qualifier meet. My 4x200 meter relay also won the state qualifier meet in indoors. Outdoor went amazing as well, I hit my PR of 5'5 and broke the meet record I was at, and succeeded all season in high jump again. I originally learned high jump strictly for the pent, but realized I really started to love it and focused on it individually. This past outdoor was my second time ever doing the pent, with not much training in shot and the 800 and I PRd with over 2700 points and won the ECIC meet. I prefer high jump to be my number one, but I'm an all around athlete when it comes to this sport. I ended indoor and outdoor being a 2x section 6 champion in the high jump, and placing in hurdles both indoor and outdoor. I made it to states and nationals both indoor and outdoor in high jump, placing at nationals in both seasons. Track in my number one priority other than academics, and I put lots of dedication into the sport, in and out of the season.
