Over the course of my high school career I’ve had the honor to be involved in many academic programs, such as: National Honors Society, National Spanish Honors Society, Pre-College Upward Bound, and National Achievers Society (Urban League). Not only have I been involved in the programs mentioned above but also in the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy, Girl-Up, and being the Secretary of the community service club, Key Club at my school. In my community I’m involved in the Future of Hope program and the Youth Health Board. It's important for me to to be right academically before I can do the sport I love, track.
I enjoy running track and have excelled in it. I have been running for as long as I can remember and I realize that track can be taken away from me at any moment so I don't take my talent for granted. God has blessed me with the talent so through it all I want to glorify Him and inspire others. I believe that I have, because many people have told me so. It’s especially humbling for me because it’s always been natural for me, so knowing that something as simple as running inspires people, motivates me to be a better athlete and person.Thankfully, I’ve earned many awards from it. Through the course of my four years in high school I’ve earned 5 medals at the state championship and won most athletic at my school for senior superlatives.
If I get to run in college my goal will not be to beat everyone but to beat myself. I want to get better every single day in order to be the best version of myself. I am a hard worker and a very determined person, once I start something and put my mind to it I finish it. I am not a quitter. I am also a good listener. I take constructive criticism well when it comes to track. When a coach or a teammate gives me advice on how to be better I don't question it because I know there is always room to improve. I am also a team player, I know in college it will be boys and girls just like me running and if we want to be successful as individuals and as a team we have to work together. I will always want what's best for the team even if I have to do an event I'm not comfortable with. Furthermore, I recognize that track is a mental sport, so not only do I strive to be better physically but also mentally because that is where I beat my opponents.
With everything that’s been said, I know I can bring my strengths and talents to the track team. I am optimistic, a hard worker, and a determined person. These are qualities that not everyone possesses. I will challenge and push myself to be the best that I can be, and hopefully be the best version of myself so I can inspire others to do the same. I promise I will do everything to my best ability and will help the team rather than hinder it.
