Personal Statement
In college, my goal is to run with a team and level I am competitive in. Also, having a strong connection with my teammates is very important to me because running with a group is one of my favorite parts of cross country and track. I am a good candidate for your team because I am consistently hard-working, lead the team by example, and have a positive attitude. I am the girl that cheers my teammates on in workouts and meets and I will always help someone struggling. I also perform well in high pressure situations, such as qualifying for state as an individual in my 2013 season. I think my character sets me apart from other recruits because I love doing service. I have gone on a mission trip to Guatemala the past two years, a service trip in Kentucky the past three years, volunteer for organizations around my community, do service through National Honor Society, and I am President of Volunteer Club at my school. All of the service work I do humbles me and gives me a different perspective of how things are in the world, building my character. For athletics, I have participated in a variety of sports over the years such as basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, and swimming, but found running to be my true passion and skill. However, participating in many sports, sometimes three in one season, has built me into an all-around athlete and developed a very strong work ethic that has carried through to my cross country and track career in high school. In academics, I consistently get A's in challenging courses and am not afraid to challenge myself in all subjects. I have over a 4 GPA and have been on the Dean's List every semester so far. Overall, I am a very passionate runner and will strive to excel in all areas of my life in college.
