Personal Statement
I started pole vaulting in sixth grade. I also did cross country and track and field at my middle school every year and continued that into my high school career. I was first inspired to do vaulting by my father who encouraged me to do it due to my gymnastics skills and strength. My father won state in his high school years and worked at the sport throughout college. I chose to do track at a young age because of my favorite middle school gym teacher who is now my pole vaulting coach who saw potential and talent in me that was fit for cross country and track. Although I didn't make it to state as a freshman for vaulting, I did make it to indoor and outdoor state with a relay team for the 4 by 200. I won The Outstanding Newcomer in Track as Freshman. I qualified for state sophmore and junior year in polevault.I'm a good candidate for a college team because all my life I was told I am a leader in both academics and athletics. In addition, I am a strong believer in a positive attitude which carries me through my sport and helps me keep my head up at all times. I think being apart of a track team would be an amazing experience, because I would be able to work with a team, stay in shape, and I would be able to follow my passion for pole vaulting. If polevault has taught me one thing, it would be never give up. Another interest of mine is water skiing. I'm on the Min-Aqua Bats which is a water ski team in up north Wisconsin. My water skiing career differentiates me from the rest because it helps me compete under pressure and keeps me strong over the summer. I'm excited to see what direction I'm going to take as high school continues and hope I eventually create a clear idea of what I want in both college and life itself!
