I am a student athlete. I study hard, and I play hard, and I want it to stay that way both throughout college and my adult life. I am a person who values education first and foremost. I also happen to love volleyball and the spirit of competition. My academic interests vary, but I have found I am most attracted to the Social Sciences, Kinesiology, and Artistic Design. I have always been a self motivated learner and student, completing assignments and projects from my own self driven nature. When I have a job to do or a practice or game to attend, I suit and show up. My goals are to follow up my undergraduate studies with graduate work in whichever field of study I naturally fall into as I develop a stronger calling while in college.
As a volleyball player, I would first and foremost qualify myself as a diversified team player. Having played school and club ball since 6th grade, I have assumed the role as a setter, outside hitter, and defensive specialist. I received several honors in high school, including First Team All-League my freshman year and All League Honorable Mention the last two consecutive years. This year, as my team's Captain, I was recently invited to participate in the County All Star Game in November. Apart from my diversity as a player, I think my greatest strengths as a player is my impeccable record in attending practices and games, my coachability, my leadership both on and off the court, and my positive attitude. I give 100% effort at all times, and augment my mandatory practices with additional conditioning at the gym and running.
As a person, I am independent, reliable, trustworthy, and fair. I enjoy helping others, and have spent time as a student and as a summer volunteer at a local non-profit organization mentoring and working with kids with special needs. I have always been interested in student leadership and both ran and served in student council. I have faced some deeply personal challenges in my life that have made me a strong and resilient person who aims to approach life fearlessly and with the utmost integrity. I believe my character is rooted in formidable core values that will continue to serve me well as a student, athlete, and maturing adult.
