Personal Statement
My collegiate goals and aspirations- My goal is to find a high level academic school with a competitive volleyball program where I can grow as a student and athlete. My goal is to become a physical therapist. My aspirations are to bring hard work and leadership to a team and push myself and teammates as hard as I can for one reason! To win championships!!!
What makes me a good candidate for a team is my humble demeanor along with the mindset of preparing for everything in my life at the absolute highest level possible and playing this game and living life without fear of failure. My energy, communication and leadership I believe are some of my strongest attributes. My entire life I have been a year round 2 sport, club athlete (Volleyball/Soccer) at the highest level of competition (Open Div/ US Soccer Academy Program)I have also been able to achieve a 4.0 or higher every year along with my athletic workload of honors, AP and IB classes. A typical week (in addition to academics) is 3 VB practices, 2 Libero skills practices and 3 speed / strength sessions. In short, I am no stranger to endless hours of preparation in the gym and in the classroom to achieve our goals.
I stared my high school academic career as an honor student with a 4.3 GPA as a freshman at a very challenging academic private high school. I am now taking IB and AP classes to challenge myself in the classroom and prepare for college athletics and academics.
Athletics- I have been blessed to play volleyball at two of the top clubs in the country (T Street / LB Mizuno) I’ve received top level training from some of the best club coaches in the country and have competed in the open division in several tournaments across the country. As a 16 Year old I was fortunate enough to play up an age division on T Street’s 17-1’s team in the open division. This was a tremendous growing year for me! We were fortunate enough to win a bid and play in the open division in the Junior Olympics. The experience I gained last year was invaluable!
As a 15 year old we were fortunate enough to win a bronze medal in the Junior Olympics. I was selected 2 years in a row as the captain of my club and high school VB teams as well as the 3 years I competed at my former club (949 Volleyball Club). My goal has always been to play Libero as a hard nosed, scrappy leader on the back row that takes pride in serve receive and keeping the ball off the floor!!!
I LOVE to work out!!! Although not everyone loves to workout, I grew up in the weight room with my Dad training college and professional athletes. He started training me at the age of 12 and we’ve never looked back!!! I take pride in leading by example in the weight room and on the court and love getting after it with my teammates 💪💪💪😁😁
I believe I can contribute to any team by leading by example, being a great teammate by getting along with everyone and humbly playing the game harder than any other Liberos out there🙏
Humbly, Grace Moss
