Volleyball has taught me to be open minded with coaches, in the classroom and on the court, and to easily adapt to various methods of education. I've gone from trying to be the perfect volleyball player and student, to knowing now that I never will be. What I will always be, however, is a hard worker that never fails to reach my full potential and I now know that is all I can do and that it is enough.
I have the confidence to say this because every time I walk into my CrossFit Visalia box, I challenge my mind and body to exceed my previous limits. This extra routine I love and enjoy challenges me to focus my mind and I believe this is why my grades consistently increase as I adapt to my teachers throughout the year. Last semester I finished with a 4.3 GPA as opposed to the previous semesters 4.1. I took 47th place world wide and 2nd place in the USA in the CrossFit Open teens division this year; this is not achieved easily or without constant maximum effort, especially given I have only been doing CrossFit for 1.5 years. The mental toughness I've gained from CrossFit has and is continuously carrying over into my volleyball and classroom performance. I will be an exceptional athlete for the coach that expects my limits everyday; I in return, will gladly reach and exceed them.
