Personal Statement

I started Volleyball in the seventh grade not knowing the ins,  outs and regulations. But I soon fell in love with the sport, so i started practicing my hits , bumps, speed and much more. Come eighth grade, my passion for Volleyball motivated me into improving my skills after each practice, and each game. In the ninth grade, my coach made the point to myself and my teammates that we could make volleyball our future and much more. With dedication and perseverance, I made sure to make the varsity team my sophomore year as a starter. And in my future years in highschool, I plan on continuing to play on varsity and improving my skills to meet the college level.

I aspire to attend a college or university as a student athlete majoring in Architecture with a minor in business. Besides being dedicated to sports I am also academically driven. Throughout my high school career I have been able to make honor roll every semester. Education is an important value to my family and I.  Having a focus on not only sports, but academics makes me a good candidate for any team. I am easy to work with on and off the court. I bring dedication, motivation, and support to the team.  My commitment to growth makes it easy for any coach to help me improve and be the best player I can be.

In athletics, I stand out because I am always building on my skills. Hitting, tipping, blocking, and receiving tips are all things I have been able to advance myself in.  Compared to other recruits I stand out in character because of my values. Growing up with Ghanaian parents and two sisters, I have learned the importance of a family and sisterhood. My parents taught me to work hard for anything I want  and to also bring those around me up as well. Being on a college volleyball team doesn't just mean playing on a court it means giving all the effort you can in a game when it feels like people expect you to give up or when you have been pinned down by life. I don't just want to win with a team, I want to grow with a team who is committed to giving their all in every game and every single practice. I stand out because I am not afraid to fail, I am afraid of not giving my all in everything that I do.
