Personal Statement
My name is Lauren Donnelly and I am a class of 2015 Setter. I have been playing volleyball year round for the past eight years and always do everything possible to make myself and my team better. I currently play for Vanguard High School and Ocala Power United Volleyball in Ocala Florida. I have been the starting Setter on my high school and club teams for the last several years as we’ve competed at the highest levels. My high school team has won consecutive FHSAA Class 6A State Championships in 2012 and 2013. My club team has also been very successful, winning a National Championship in each of the past three years (AAU-2012, USAV-2013, and AAU-2014).
I have been a 1st Team Ocala Star Banner selection the past two years and was the 2013 Star Banner Player of the Year during my Junior year. I was also named to the All-Tournament Team at USAV Nationals in 2013 and was the Meldon Law TV20 Scholar Athlete of the Week on September 19, 2014. I have been fortunate to play in many big games and in some very hostile gyms, and I love the atmosphere.
I am a student in the International Baccalaureate Program and maintain a 4.93 weighted GPA. Education is very important to me and I would like to go to a college with an excellent program and high academic standards. I plan on majoring in Business with the intention of going on to Law School. I am looking to proudly represent the school for which I play, make a positive impact for my teammates, and train, practice and compete to the best of my abilities.
