Hello, my name is Katherine Pickard and I'm an outside/ right side hitter currently in my junior year at the Academy of the Holy Names High School in Tampa, Florida. When it comes to academics, I take them very seriously and I hope to attend a college that will allow me to continue my volleyball career, but at the same time pursue more challenging academic classes. I want to focus on volleyball, but also on what the future holds for me after college and what colleges will guide me to get to the high level both athletically and academically that I hope to achieve. Ever since I started playing volleyball at the age of thirteen, Iv'e had such a strong passion for all the game has to offer. Volleyball has helped me grow to be a strong leader on and off the court. As I have continued playing, I have learned to play with fight and be the voice that helps others to not give up, no matter what the score may be. I bring energy to the court that motivates the entire team to play their best. Also, when its game time I focus on playing to the best of my abilities and being a contributor to the overall team effort in order to not just win, but work harder and show more fight than my competitors. In addition, I am great at adjusting to new things. For example, I just started playing the outside position at the beginning of sophomore year, and in my first year of playing outside I played all six rotations. Lastly, I hope that college will allow me to positively impact all the people around me with my enthusiasm and continuous hard work, while I continue to play the sport I love.
