Personal Statement
Thanks for viewing my profile! My name is Ana Julia Campos. I am currently a 17 year old junior at Cypress Bay High School. I play on the varsity team for my school (class 8A district) as well as club volleyball. I was born in Brazil and moved to Florida at the age of 6. My passion for volleyball began at a very young age , my parents were athletes and my grandmother, my highest inspiration, played for a Brazilian State team ( Parana State). Today, I play both indoor and sand volleyball and my goal is to obtain a scholarship to play volleyball in college. I’m considered by all my club and high school coaches as a consistent and an “ all-around player”. I have been successful mainly as a defender specialist/libero, but also I hit and set. Being a versatile player makes me a better beach volleyball player, but I’m focusing on defense/libero positions for indoor volleyball or OH/DS depending on the school division. My current club affiliation is with DVA Academy, where I was honored in playing at the 17U Elite team " Jose Loiola" ( a Hall of the Fame and former Brazilian Olympian player). My club coach helped me to improve hitting and defense skills. It was an honor to have Mr. Loiola as a coach! After a successful Summer season where earned the bid to California Junior Olympics of Beach Volleyball finishing in 9th out of 88 teams, I won also 1st place at the AVP first Southeast tournament finishing ranked as 85th in the country. This year, I decided to focus more on indoor volleyball, but I still have been training beach volleyball in parallel. The 2017 season, I also got the bid to " JO" to St. Monica - California playing on the bottom of my age group (18U Open division) and finished in third place at the AVP first Southeast Championship! I define myself as a disciplined and very hard working person who always strives to be the best on the court and classroom. I’m looking for a school that challenges me athletically and academically.
