Personal Statement

My name is MOEA KEKAUOHA and I was born and raised in Hawaii.  I am a SENIOR and my high school team won our league championship, which hasn't been done since 2001, and battled after being down 0-2 in the state championship game to lose a thrilling 5 set match.  We played our hearts out and left it all on the court and I was fortunate to be selected to the All-Tournament Team.  I also got selected to the league's first team all-stars (http://www.hawaiiprepworld.com/featured/choy-named-ilh-volleyball-player-of-the-year) as well as the All-State Fab 15 (I was ranked #3 out of 15). While it's an honor to receive recognition, I know I couldn't have done it without great coaching and supportive teammates.

I'd love the chance to play competitive volleyball in college. I've been playing since I was 7 years old and I'm passionate about it. I like to compete at a high level and be challenged.  I play to win, I work hard and I push my teammates so we are all constantly improving. I think I'm a dynamic player with solid all-around skills and I play with a big heart

I've been a libero for my high school team from freshman - junior year but this year Coach moved me to OH and I play six full rotations. In club, I'm an OH and typically play both front and back row.  I am open to playing either position in college and am keeping all my options open.  It's important to me and my family to find a college campus that is well suited for me and I think I would thrive on a smaller campus in an urban or suburban area.

When I'm not in the gym, I like to go to the beach to play beach volleyball, body surf and get pounded by waves. I like to sing and was in my school's regular choir for 3 years and select choir for 2 years.  I also like to listen to different types of music.  I'm the second oldest of 4 children, and I have 1 older sister as well as a younger sister and younger brother.

Don't be misled by my height or lack of it.  I have hops, quick feet and very good ball control.

Thank you for visiting my profile.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
