Personal Statement
"Today I will do what others won't, so tomorrow I can do what others can't"
I have this quote taped to the wall in my bedroom. Looking at it every day inspires me to keep working hard and always go the extra mile. I am a person who sets goals for myself and strives to achieve them. Academically, it is my goal to attend a 4 year college, study in a field I find fulfilling and graduate with honors. Athletically, it has always been my goal to play volleyball in college and work together with my team towards a championship season. Some people may think my goals are too high, but not me. I have the determination, desire and drive to make it happen. I work hard not only during practice, but outside of practice as well. I willingly do what some others won't....put in the hours. I take private setting lessons, get extra reps in the weight room and work with a trainer to constantly keep improving my jumping, speed and agility. Most importantly, I listen to what my coaches are telling me and take it to heart. I try to make changes in my technique or improve my game strategy based on their pointers.
Playing volleyball is my passion! I live for the competition. To me, there is nothing better than when a game is tied 20-20 and every point counts. I love the pressure, I love when my team comes together to battle for those last few points and I love to win. Being on a volleyball court is definitely my "happy place". Given the opportunity to play in college, I will continue to work hard not only for myself, but for my coach and my team as well. Let's set some new goals together!!
