Personal Statement
From the time I started playing volleyball in 7th grade, I loved it. I gave up both club tennis and soccer to focus on volleyball. I joined Sky High Volleyball in 7th grade and was there for six years. I began my volleyball career as a setter, but I played as an outside hitter, right side hitter, and defensive specialist on the elite team at Sky High, as well. Eventually I made the decision to stick with setting and worked my way up to be the setter on the 17 and 18 Black teams at Sky High.
I committed to the University of New Orleans (D1) in 2015 for indoor and sand but ultimately decided the school was not the right fit for me. I was fortunate to secure a setting position at McHenry County College right before the season started. While at MCC, as the starting setter, I lead the team to the NJCAA National Tournament where we finished with a record of 39-9. Throughout this season, I was awarded two All-Tournament honors, selected for the All-Conference team, the All-Region first team, and I received an All-American Honorable mention.
When I am not playing volleyball, I enjoy being with friends, playing the piano and ukelele, and working out. My academic focus at this time is pre-law, which is a very flexible major that will expose me to a lot of different subjects, from business to criminal justice, and will help me to discover what path I would like to take as a career.
