Personal Statement

I have learned through my life experiences the value of competition and being part of a team.  I love the leadership role on my teams and make a point to raise the level of play of my teammates with my positive energy and intensity on the court.  I have spent countless hours in the gym with not only my teams, but my dad and I working relentlessly to improve my physical and mental abilities.  I take my character very seriously, knowing it represents myself, my family and my school and community. I represent much more than myself.  I am a big believer is setting goals and making my decisions in every day life based on that focus and vision and working to achieve those goals, both short term and long term. I also love the opportunity to be a role model for youth, I love coaching them and I spend a lot of time in the gym working with them and watching them grow and learn with each experience.

Being the daughter of a teacher and coach, my academics are very important to me and I fully understand that is where my success in life will be determined. My goal is to play volleyball in college while earning my primary goal of being successful in life and in my future career.  My goal to compete at the college level is based upon many things, but primarily I love to compete and want to maximize my athletic career while I can. I am an impact player and influential leader on every team I am on right now and am fully confident my abilities will give me the opportunity to play collegiately.

Training

  • Wichita State Elite Skills Training
  • 2 years
  • I was recognized by coaching staff as one of the strongest setters in the 8th grade in the Wichita region. I was placed in the top group of recruits and seniors for drills and camp activities and praised by the coaches of WSU Volleyball. The summer of my 9th grade year I participated in 5 days of training with the top groups of hitters and setters.

  • My Freshman year of High School I started the season as a Setter in a 6-2, by mid-season my coach moved me to the single setter in a 5-1 rotation. I led my team to a League title and to the Sub-State Championship game. I set school records with 500 assists and 64 aces on the season. My Sophomore year I ran a 6-2 and led my team with 537 assists and 80 aces, which is now the single season record in our High School. I was second in digs and kills as well. I helped lead my team to our first state tournament in 21 years.

I continue to do the training drills at home on my own and our team uses many of the team drills and coverage in practices. My primary development as a player has been a result of what I have learned at WSU. I have always been in the upper groups at the camp and have played with some of the their recruits in various camps.
  • UNK - Kearney
  • 1 year
  • I attended a camp at UNK to learn from Coach Squiers, I respect him tremendously and learned a lot about the game and how he wants his setters to lead his teams. I was awarded the Setter Award for the best setter at the camp.
