To me, playing volleyball is so much more than just playing volleyball. The people I’ve met and the connections I’ve made have already forever changed me. I find so much joy in playing the sport. Between pushing my limits to keep the ball from touching the floor to calling out the tips and what I see off the court. Volleyball brings me so much joy and I am forever grateful for the time I have spent playing it. From the first time I started to really dig into this sport at 12, I quickly found that I love to compete and win; however, I think that even losses are important as well. To grow from the losses is just as important as congratulating and celebrating the wins.
I live in an immensely competitive household and because of this I naturally gravitated toward my interest in sports. I swam for over ten years, played tennis for about three years, and played basketball for two years. Out of all of the sports, I’ve played I’ve found the most interest and excitement in volleyball because the environment of the game is more intense and exciting in my eyes. When I started playing I quickly realized how different it was from all of the other sports I had previously played. As I started my journey in 2019 I found that I am able to jump higher than most people my height and taller, and now I use that to my advantage all around the court. From jumping up to set a ball that is flying over my head to back row attacking. My current and past teams and I have all found it especially helpful to have players be as aggressive from the back row and as well as the front. Volleyball to me is an outlet to a whole new world that I'm ready to get lost in.
