Sophie Lavigne '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sophie Lavigne, and I've been playing volleyball since I was just 8! Ever since I was little, all I've ever wanted to do was find another opportunity to get out on the court and work at becoming a better player.  I've always dreamed of one day being on a college team and having little girls look up to me as a role model. On the court, you can find me in just about any position depending on the day. I've played pretty much every position other than middle blocker and setter, and every time I'm thrown in a different position, I adapt and step up to take on the challenge. Although I thrive in many positions, I'm most comfortable in the libero position, taking charge of the back row and leading the team. I've been team captain of most teams I've been a part of and I consider myself to be a great leader both on and off the court. I'm always looking for feedback from my coaches to learn what I can do to better myself as a player and a teammate.

In college, I'm looking for a coach and a team open to tons of communication and who's not afraid to change things up every once in a while. As important as volleyball is to me, I'm also dedicated to my academics, as I will be majoring in biology/pre-med to become a doctor in the future. I highly value a balance between having a dedication to volleyball and academics at the same time, striving to do my absolute best in both.

I consider myself to be a great aspect of my team and take pride in my leadership, coachability, and my ability to keep a good attitude on and off the court even when things don't go my way. I always strive to not only better myself but my team as a whole, recognizing that volleyball depends so heavily on a strong and positive headspace as well as a strong mental connection with teammates and not just raw talent.
