Growing up in a suburban neighborhood with many sports available to me, I often hopped from sport to sport. I swam for the local swim team for 4 years. I started playing volleyball in 4th grade and getting into my first club team in 6th grade. Volleyball became a huge part of my life and my family started getting very involved; especially my mom. She has helped me come very far in my journey and aspirations related to volleyball. If I wanted to sign up for a clinic two hours away, she would find a way to get me there. Commitment to volleyball, in my eyes, also requires you to have a family supporting you every step of the way— physically as well as academically. From traveling with me to my games to helping me with schoolwork my parents make sure I succeed to the best of my abilities. My dad really helped me get good grades in school and focus, helping me with my algebra homework or my mom getting me library books to read. I strive to maintain a good GPA throughout high school and continue to work as hard as I have been. Although it was more of a struggle to maintain good grades throughout quarantine, as well as stay physically fit, it taught me a lesson. I learned perseverance, even if it may be tough at some points. I believe I have the skill, as well as the committed, upbeat, confident character to join a college team and make a positive impact!
