Wow. It's the 3 year mark.
As a rookie I bragged about how many bruises this sport gave me. Now I'm proud to say that after two full years, I am bruise free and playing better than ever. It's been a steady grind since day one, and by the looks of it, the love I got for this sport will only grow stronger.
There's no "fake it 'till you make it" because I genuinely enjoy the progress just as much as the outcome. Whether that means winning a game or achieving certain goals during practice. The only thing better than a show-off athlete is a real one.
I thank God for giving me a strong and healthy body to not only lift myself up but my teammates as well. Coaches don't lie when they say volleyball is a team sport. Since becoming an athlete, I have gained the ability to not only push myself but those around me as well. And not just on the court. I may be an excellent setter but I'm just a good a listener and friend.
I've never hated learning, because how can knowledge put you at a disadvantage? Whether its a tedious math class or going over all the free ball plays in the book, learning something new will always be enjoyable to me. Working is what we as humans are called to do. I plan to continue to work hard as an athlete and as a student.
As I get closer and closer to college I grow even more confident that I have what it takes to play volleyball at a higher level.
