I was eight years old, waiting for my brothers to finish futsal practice when I looked over to another court and first saw a Latitude 42 club practice taking place. The intensity, speed, focus, the way the team moved as a cohesive unit filling open space, building each play, and the support they gave each other both on and off the court was exhilarating. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to play volleyball. I remember begging my parents to sign me up for a camp and that summer, eight-year-old me fell in love with the sport. Since then, I have been mentored by talented coaches and dedicated teammates, had the opportunity to play at the elite/power team level, and am so grateful for every second of it.
Volleyball has taught me that when you love what you do, your energy, opportunity for growth, and ability to impact others has no limits. This inspires me to challenge myself academically to pursue an electrical engineering career, lead projects as a co-head of Concord Academy’s engineering club to create innovative solutions for our community, work as a camp counselor and soccer referee, volunteer as a tour guide and orientation leader, and continue competing in club soccer and varsity lacrosse and basketball. It has taught me about leadership, time management, and the importance of trust in building a strong team.
I am excited to take the next step in my academic and athletic path and am looking for a university where I can both challenge myself and be supported as a student and an athlete equally.
