Personal Statement
I have an intense passion for volleyball, a game that I've been playing since the fifth grade when the Coach allowed me to join my older sisters on their middle school team (since I was always at practices and knew the game better than some of the 6th - 8th graders)!
My short-term (college-level) goals are to go to college and play Division I or II volleyball. I am very passionate about volleyball and along with my dream to play volleyball in college, I will either pursue a career goal to become an attorney who specializes in Child Welfare cases or in Business (Marketing and/or International Business). I've chosen these careers as one allows me the best chance to advocate for the needs of children in foster care and the juvenile justice system and to honor the work of many of my family members as social workers and teachers while the other positions me to use my love of Japanese language/culture with my effective communication and networking skills.
The length of time that I've been involved with volleyball -playing mostly as a defensive specialist/libero or a setter- enables me to have a very good volleyball IQ and, my passion for the game enables me to be energetic, coachable and a leader of others. I definitely believe that I've evolved into an awesome, well-rounded volleyball player who would fit well with many teams.
